Pond Pumps

Water features add a peaceful element to gardens. Ponds and waterfalls are an attractive addition to any garden, but they must be properly maintained. Large ponds especially must be equipped with the right sized pond pumps.

For them to work most effectively pond pumps need to be the correct size. The first step to determining this is to find the volume of the pond. If the pond is less than five hundred gallons then the pump should turn over the full volume in about an hour, if the pond is greater than five hundred gallons then the pump should turn over half the volume in an hour.

Pond pumps have a filter attached to them that helps remove debris from the water. The filter will collect leaves, sticks, bugs, etc. It’s important to clean the filter regularly to keep the pump running smoothly.
